Informative discussion on the existing mechanisms against gender-based violence with women from the municipality of Ferizaj

Gender inequality and gender-based violence against women are structural issues that affect the lives of many women in Kosovo and around the world. Today we held an informative discussion on the existing mechanisms against gender-based violence with women from the municipality of Ferizaj, who had the opportunity to hear from the people directly involved in fighting this phenomenon.
The discussion brought together Major Muhamet Jahiri, Head of General Investigations in the Regional Directorate of Ferizaj, Sevdije Kasumi-Bunjaku, Executive Director of the Center for the Protection of Women and Children “Shtepia Ime” in Ferizaj, as well as Emira Sallahu, Chief of the Social Welfare Sector in the Municipal Directorate for Health and Social Welfare in Ferizaj. The panel was moderated by psychologist Laura Cakolli. The discussion was opened by Gjylere Morina, trainer for social empowerment in Kosova – Women 4 Women.
As part of the discussion, the short video “You are not Alone” was presented, a product of Kosova – Women 4 Women.
During the discussion, the experts talked with the participants to convey different information about the forms of violence, the ways of fighting violence and the ways in which their institutions fight violence and contribute to a better life for the survivors of violence.
This panel was organized within the project “Together Building Resilience”, funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund).
We thank the panelists and participants for an open and fruitful discussion!
